When you contact the Tandem office you can be assured
of a friendly and helpful reception. We fully appreciate that job
hunting can be a frustrating and demoralizing experience and that
some people who have not used an agency before are unsure of how
we work.
We deal with both temporary and permanent employment
in the fields of Industrial/Engineering, Commercial and Shipping.
When you initially make contact one of our experienced consultants
will have a brief chat with you to establish your situation and
to determine how best we can help you. It is likely that for Engineering,
Commercial and Shipping vacancies we will need a CV from you. (Some
hints on writing a successful CV can be found on this site). If
at all possible it is best to send this by email.
Once we have an understanding of your background
and what it is that you are looking for we will be able judge whether
we are likely to be able to help you at the present time and whether
it is worth your while coming into our offices to formally register
– we prefer not to waste people’s time and we understand
how disheartening it can be to register with an agency and never
hear from them so, if we have nothing to suit you immediately we
will keep your details on file and will contact you once a potentially
suitable opportunity arises.
If, however, we think that we have a position that
may suit you an appointment will be made for you to come to our
office in Ipswich. We will ask you to bring certain documentation
with you as we are required by law to check your identity and to
verify that you are eligible to work in the UK.
The registration process will take up to an hour.
Initially you will be seated in our waiting room and given an application
form to complete, along with a booklet that explains how we operate.
Industrial candidates will also be given a numeracy and literacy
test.
The following registration interview is relatively
informal and lasts anything from half an hour to forty-five minutes.
During this time our consultant will go through your registration
form and CV (if you have one) discussing your previous employment
and establishing your skills and aspirations. If you have responded
to an advert and or have been invited to register for a particular
role the consultant will detail the job specification and give you
as much background information on the company as possible.
Once registration is complete we will explain the
next stage of the job seeking process to you. It may be that we
are going to forward your details to a client or, for temporary
vacancies, we may need to follow up references.
Whatever your situation we will keep you informed
at all times and will do our utmost to help you find the right position
for you.
Our service to candidates
is free of charge.
